Swallow Barn was established by experienced people with a passion for high quality heritage furniture hand crafted in oak. Previously a luxury only the affluent might enjoy, Swallow Barn Limited are committed to bringing a broad range of quality recreations of classic period furniture from the 16 th to the 19 th centuries furniture within the reach of all.

So far as is possible our furniture is built using the same methods as were used for the original pieces in centuries past, meticulously hand crafted by dedicated master craftsmen using traditional hand tools for all carvings and turnings, thus ensuring each individual piece you buy is unique. At the same time, our products are able to withstand modern day living conditions so that our furniture looks just as good as any original, be it situated in an 17th century mill, an 18th Century mansion or a modern penthouse apartment.

You will find the build quality and craftsmanship of our furniture to be truly exceptional and of the highest standards. All the oak timber used is kiln dried to keep moisture content down to a minimum and although highly labour intensive, all turnings and detailed carvings are meticulously and painstakingly worked by hand, allowing us to ensure the originality of each piece. Our products are designed to outlive their custodians and be passed on through family generations, a welcome change in today’s disposable age.

Until now it has been prohibitively expensive to commission intricately hand crafted recreations of classic oak furniture from hundreds of years ago, indeed only the very affluent could afford such a luxury.

Our jewellery boxes are made from Japanese Camphor wood, a large evergreen tree indigenous to the far east with a very distinctive and pleasant aroma.
